The Name

iaculus

In ancient Roman natural history, the iaculus was a serpent of singular power — coiled in stillness, invisible, waiting. Then, in a single movement, it struck.

It is a winged creature of myth, never an ordinary snake of the grass. The wings mark it as numinous: an emblem of the supernatural power that moves through the natural world.

Pure readiness. Nothing withheld, nothing forced.

The word itself means that which is thrown — from iacere, to hurl, to cast, to set in motion. The root of trajectory. Of the javelin. Something released at precisely the right moment with precisely the right force.

That is kairos: the opportune moment. The opening that rewards only those present enough to recognize it and grounded enough to act.

This practice is built on one conviction: the leaders most capable of meeting that moment are those who have done the deeper work — psychological, somatic, imaginal — to know who they are when it counts.
